Design Philosophy
The design vocabulary draws from an interplay of raw materiality and tropical modernism. Exposed stone cladding— in both stacked slate grey and smooth sandstone tones — anchors the structure with a sense of permanence, while perforated concrete screens (jali-inspired circular patterns) filter light and air, creating dappled interiors that breathe naturally throughout the day. Warm teak-toned timber pergolas and louvred screens at the upper level introduce a contrasting organic warmth, preventing the façade from reading as cold or monolithic.

Climate & Sustainability

Designed for the hot semi-arid climate of Trichy, the building is oriented to minimise direct western sun exposure. Deep overhangs at the first floor shade the glazing below. The perforated jali screens on the compound wall and upper level allow prevailing breezes to pass through, ensuring passive cross-ventilation. Generous planter boxes at the boundary wall and cascading green walls on the first-floor terrace bring biophilic elements into the street interface, moderating the microclimate around the building.
